Shared Vision Group

Avery Dennison

Shared Vision Group recently completed the first phase go-live of an implementation of a B2B site built on IBM's WebSphere Commerce for Avery Dennison, a five billion dollar global manufacturing company.

This implementation required the real-time integration of Customers, Products, Pricing, Inventory and other complex variable data between WebSphere Commerce Business Edition V5.6, Yantra Order Managment and several custom Java applications.  The real-time integration was accomplished using Web Services and the Service Oriented Architecture to provide a consistent framework for message passing and error handling.

The e-Sites hosted stores model from WebSphere Commerce was used to deploy a complex array of stores, thousands of buying organizations and manufacturing facilities in the US and Asia.  Access Control extensions were developed to allow for a supervisory layer of inter-organization relationships to enable the detailed reporting on how their target customers interact.

The implementation was completed in half the time and at half the cost of their previous solution based on Oracle I-Store.  There are two more phased roll-outs planned that span the next two years and will bring manufacturing facilities from five continents on line.
